AEP Ohio was proud to participate in the 9th Annual Central Ohio STEM Expo on March 1, 2025, organized by the American Society of Civil Engineers. This free educational outreach event welcomed students from kindergarten through eighth grade. Students had the opportunity to engage in STEM activities such as designing safe streets, building and battling LEGO robots, exploring the science of bugs and learning the life cycle of a raindrop through interactive exhibits. Business Services Account Manager Senior Checobia Crawford volunteered at the event.

“I have been attending this event as a volunteer for a few years now and I’m always amazed to see the exhibits and the excitement we get from the children,” Crawford said. “We bring in Safety City where we talk to children about being safe around electricity and the level of engagement is truly inspiring. It’s incredible to see how eager they are to learn and participate in hands-on activities that promote safety and STEM education.”

Timothy Bray, key account manager principal, also participated in the event, talking to crowds about how electricity works and how to be safe around it.

“‘I love seeing the excitement from the kids, both with AEP Ohio’s Safety City and all the other activities,” said Bray. “The questions and comments we get show a very high level of interest.  I feel that the STEM Expo is a positive experience for the children, parents and even presenters.”

The STEM Expo continues to grow every year. This year, more than 365 students attended, a 58% increase from 2024. At AEP Ohio, we offer exciting career opportunities in engineering, technical trades and finance. One of the many reasons we support programs like these is to encourage students to pursue careers in STEM fields, with the hope that they may one day join our team.
