Passionate, dedicated and caring — these are just a few characteristics that define a lineworker. They work in some of the harshest conditions — freezing rain, sub-zero temperatures or sweltering heat — day in and day out, restoring electricity, something many of us take for granted. Our customers often call them heroes for their efforts in bringing power. April 18 is Lineworker Appreciation Day and we’re spotlighting just a few standout lineworkers across our service territory.

Cody S., Line Servicer, Lancaster

“Cody is always stepping up and leading by example. His dedication, willingness to volunteer and pride in his work are exactly what we strive for in our employees. Cody enjoys working hard to provide a reliable service that our customers depend on,” said Nalin A., distribution system supervisor in southern Ohio.

Noah H., Line Servicer, Southeast Columbus

“Noah has a great attitude, and he is a valued member of our team. He is reliable and always willing to step up and take on new challenges. He has been a member of the Columbus District Safety Council for a year now. He exhibits his dedication to safety every day while working hard on maintaining our electrical system and restoring power when duty calls,” said Jason S., district system supervisor in Columbus. “When duty calls, he answers.”

Kent K., Line Servicer, Delaware

“Kent showcases exceptional customer service and teamwork. His technical knowledge sets him apart as an outstanding lineman. Kent always has a positive outlook and is a joy to be around. He consistently prioritizes the community and our customers. Kent is always very involved in community service projects, including Operation Feed, United Way, and our Angel Tree program during the holiday season. Kent’s dedication to service both on and off te job truly makes a difference,” said Andy M., distribution system supervisor for Delaware.

George C., Line Servicer, Belmont

“George hasn’t just lived the life of a Lineworker, since 1988 he’s lived it with a dedication that very few people would understand.  As long as I’ve been a part of the Belmont team (10 years) I can’t recall a time when George’s callout percentage wasn’t sitting at or near 100%, and by all accounts, this has been par for Mr. Cunard throughout his entire 37 year career,” said Craig G., manager of the distribution system Newark district. “When help is needed, the answer from George is ALWAYS the same: ‘Yes.’ Trouble in our local territory, within the East Region, across the state or nationwide, the answer is ‘yes.’  His commitment to our customers is second to none.  It seems as though every customer in the Belmont area that has ever experienced a power outage knows who George is, and wants to know if we’re going to send him to fix the problem.  He has been recognized multiple times by the Voice Of The Customer team for providing a positive, memorable experience to our customers.  George was also recently awarded the title of State Safety Champion for the month of December for his commitment to safety and going the extra mile.  Thank you, George, for your outstanding work ethic & serving as a role model to our next generation of lineworkers.”

Tyler J., Line Servicer, Lucasville

“Tyler is always willing to go the extra mile to keep the lights on.  He is a great young lineman with a true passion for his work,” said J.T. S., distribution system supervisor in Portsmouth area. “His hard work and dedication to safety not only shows amongst his co-workers but also within the customers of the AEP South Region.”
